The entrance is smothered in large plants that make entry seem like a walk through a thicket. There is an old ceramic laughing buddha incongruous with the classy brass lampshade on the side table. The cushion covers are perfectly matched except the one on the right side chair...which is a terrible crocheted multi-color bohemian confection. The flowers in the vase on the dinner table are dead...as in fake. Your dad won't throw away his non-functional record player that continues to sit next to the LED TV. Your cat won't sleep in the little basket lined with flannel that you made for her and insists on occupying your favourite chair.
It ain't perfect but it's so familiar and comfortable. It's home and it's your paradise.
